Conclave and The Brutalist: Kings of the night

In a dazzling display of glamour and glitter, the films « Conclave and The Brutalist » swept the awards, each taking home four trophies. The papal thriller « Conclave », directed by German filmmaker Edward Berger, was crowned Best Film. Meanwhile, « The Brutalist », a monumental epic by Brady Corbet, took home awards for Best Director and Best Actor for Adrien Brody, who portrayed a Holocaust-surviving architect.

Surprises and controversies: Mikey Madison and Emilia Pérez

A plot twist! Mikey Madison, 25, outshone Demi Moore and won Best Actress for her role as a stripper in Sean Baker’s thriller « Anora ». Additionally, « Emilia Pérez », a musical film by Jacques Audiard, triumphed with two trophies despite recent controversies surrounding actress Karla Sofía Gascón.

Emilia Pérez, already awarded at the Golden Globes, remains a major contender in the Oscars race, despite criticism for its caricatured depiction of Mexico and the use of artificial intelligence to enhance the actress’s voice.
