Eyal Sasson : Surface Tension : An exploration of abstraction and Figuration
From November 15, 2024, to January 13, 2025, artist Eyal Sasson presents his exhibition *Surface Tension* in London. Held at 123 Kennington Road, this exhibition explores themes of conflict, detachment, vulnerability, and collapse through a complex interplay of form, color, and surface.
A career dedicated to ambiguity
For over twenty years, Eyal Sasson, a graduate of the Royal College of Art, has been interested in the ambiguity between the mechanical processes of painting and expressive gesture. His recent works focus on the abstract language of form to tell stories of the figure and the body.

Notable series
Among the exhibited works, the series “Lamenting Women” depicts couples in a state of detachment, while *Knockout* attempts to capture the moment of a knockout in boxing, illustrating struggle and collapse through conflicting pictorial marks. Sasson plays with the duality between form and figuration, often inspired by camouflage systems.
Invitation to reflection
Works like “Swept Away By the Current,” “Diver,” and “Shark” place characters in dangerous waters, symbolizing the threat of abstraction. Sasson’s paintings oscillate between saturated and muted color palettes, reflecting a tension between abstraction and figuration without ever completely abandoning the figure.
